I ask questions.

Obvious questions. Who are you? And what is your story? Who needs to know? Where can they find you? What do you need for this? And then I continue. Looking for the question behind the question. Who are you really? And why should that matter to anyone? Doesn’t everyone say exactly the same thing? What makes you different from all those others?

 

Together we look for a clear message.

I’ve helped many companies and public organisations answer these questions in over 25 years’ working at international brand identity agencies. I always saw that the answers needed to really come from within the organization, not from an external agency. That’s why I started as an independent consultant in April 2018. I want to help organizations to develop their brand identities and to tell their stories. From a strategic foundation, but with a heart. In a way that’s not only aesthetic but also functional, durable and positively surprising.

 

I see through the eyes of your customer or user.

An ideal customer journey is consistent and credible through all touchpoints. It needs to be clear who is speaking, wherever and whenever the customer comes across your brand, in websites and online communication to company clothing, print, advertisements, fleet, signage and more. That does not mean that everything must be the same. But there is a logical and recognizable connection that allows the customer to experience a seamless customer journey. From clicking on a banner, to finding your way and how you represent your story. Every time, your customer must find the information that is relevant at that moment. Only then will you build a lasting and positive customer relationship.

 

Play & work & play.

Really good results are only achieved in an open and positive atmosphere, by facilitating and inspiring: serious playing. I strongly believe in simply starting to work with all stakeholders, in well-prepared work sessions, using design thinking methods. No question is the same, so the best method differs from project to project. And often the question behind the question, the real problem, only becomes clear when you visualize different scenarios. Or by starting a pilot project.

The Brand The Change Trainers Program is a six month online certification program for professionals in branding and marketing, interested in adding the Brand The Change ideas, tools and exercises to their practice. This brand thinking method is aimed at businesses and start-ups that want to make a difference and enables them to translate good intentions into a clear brand.
